IOCCG has established several semi-permanent “Task Forces” to address issues that require an ongoing capability and/or expertise and help to facilitate inter-agency collaboration on an ongoing basis. For example, the Satellite Sensor Calibration Task Force provides a permanent inter-agency framework under which the characterization/calibration experts from various space agencies can meet and exchange ideas, information and data, as well as conduct hands-on research and implementation.
These IOCCG Task Forces are expected to continue until the need no longer exists. The progress of each Task Force is reviewed annually at the IOCCG Committee meeting to determine whether it merits renewal or termination.
Members of the Task Force often meet virtually or opportunistically to reduce travel expenses.
