Prior to the course, an informal cocktail party kicked off the proceedings at the Asia Airport Hotel in Rangsit, midway between the airport and AIT. The open-air gathering was the first opportunity for those assembled to get to know each other, and some welcoming speeches were made, including one by Dr. Nicolas Hoepffner from JRC. As the evening went on, a free-of-charge light show was provided by a thunderstorm which rolled silently overhead.
